THE LIGHTS ARE ON AND IT FEELS LIKE HOME

Second fix electrical is complete on my bach at Castle Hill. This is a big moment as it makes occupancy so much easier. Summer was okay with long day light hours but as we moved to winter the couple of work lights I had left alot of dark corners.

The build is OSB SIP left exposed to walls and ceilings so I had to get creative with lighting design unless I wanted alot of surface mounted conduit or chases in the SIP.

My solution was LED ribbon located below the wall to ceiling junction. This has worked really well lighting up the warm OSB ceilings and giving great even light across the living and bedrooms.

The LED ribbon is mounted onto a dressed timber moulding fixed to the walls. Because the moulding is timber rather than plaster the LED needed a heat sink and so sits in an aluminium channel. This allows a diffuser which helps spread the light more evenly.

While I do alot of my own lighting design I got some great technical advise from Steve at the Lighthouse who I have been using for years.

The thing with architecture you need to know alot about alot of different trades but you also need to know when to seek advice.

End result is as good as I had hoped and our modest bach is really starting to feel like home.
