The CORTEN steel entry canopy at my high performance build in Avonhead has been installed.
The large cantilevered canopy provides shelter to the main entrance and leads the eye to the fully glazed front door and side lights through the entry and out the full height and full width glazing to the back of the entry. This allows a view of the bush along the stream to the south of the house.
The ABODO cladding runs right through the entrance which blurs the boundary between inside and out. To mark the difference between inside and out the interior ABODO has a brushed finished whereas the exterior has a bandsaw finish. The entrance walls in the brushed finish just invite themselves to be touched.
Abodo will line the lower than normal height ceiling providing a squeeze before the house opens up to the high ceilinged living space to the right
To the left is the master suit which is accessed off the entrance by a secret door in the ABODO.
After the owner treated the canopy with salt water and vinegar the rust really developed nicely.
The CORTEN sits so well against the Abodo Wood Ltd cladding.
